Futures recruitment services are currently recruiting for a Full Time Operational Support Engineer to work in a global, leading-edge Tier 1 automotive part supplier in Gillingham.

Our Client takes pride in their aftermarket products, engineered to take on any problem with no compromise. The company specialises in making vehicles cleaner, better and drive further whilst still creating more than vehicles that people want to drive.

Aiming to be pioneers in their field, using modern equipment and processes, our client aims to provide solutions to any problem. Therefore they are looking for an experienced problem solver in the automotive engineering sector with a desire to develop their career.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work on process and product quality improvements

  • Support the operator and working group on process to resolve problems

  • Process frontline support to the working group for all process issues

  • Deliver projects and process improvements from concept through completion, including: mc operation, set up and validation

  • To actively reduce costs of manufacture (MEIT) whilst maintaining product quality and volume

  • Support the hourly needs of the operation by monitoring and responding to process output signals such as OA performance, Traffic light charts, FTQ data etc.

  • Be responsible for ensuring all equipment used in manufacturing or assembly in functioning and in specification and/or calibrated

  • Maintain process to ensure adherence to accepted quality standards and to the sites quality system requirements


Skills knowledge and expertise:

  • Customer focused, attention to detail, self-confidence, goal orientated, personal initiative, good communication, team working and ability to work in a structured and organised manner are key personal strengths.

  • Hands on experience of CNC machine processes in a manufacturing environment – grinding, milling, turning etc.

  • Analytical and data literate

  • IT knowledge of MS word, Excel PowerPoint, Access, project etc.

  • Comply with Health and Safety Regulations such as PPE, showing responsibility of personal safety and that of others

  • Ability to develop and present technical presentations to management and others


The role could be subject to a different shift pattern (other than normal day shift), which could encompass lates, nights, 3-shift or turnaround shifts.  Any variation in shift, will of course attract an additional shift premium.
